What is Building Family Connections?
The Building Family Connections (BFC) teaches parenting – adults skills to begin the lifelong conversation with youth about sex and healthy relationships. It is an interactive sexual health curriculum that aims to postpone the age of sexual debut in youth by increasing parental involvement in sexual health education.
The 10-hour curriculum empowers parents and parenting adults with medically accurate sexual health information, skills on effective communication, and decision-making strategies to help youth grow up safe, smart, and strong.
Why is it important?
Research proves that for a child to make the right decisions, and feel comfortable with their decisions, they need to hear a consistent message from multiple sources: Church, parents, school; and the most effective influencer is the parent.
