Hawaii seeks help from PEACE

At the request of churches and legislators, PEACE president Phil Lees will be touring Hawaii for two weeks during October to share the effects of same sex marriage on school curriculum.

Last month, Lees attended the Transforming Our World conference in Hawaii, hosted by Harvest Evangelism. There he met Hawaiian leaders who, in conversation, heard the message about conflicting curriculum in our schools and how this increased after the passing of same sex marriage in 2005.

Hawaiian legislators are voting on same sex marriage on the 28th of this month.

Lees was asked to share at a local meeting of more than 100 participants the next morning.  After the presentation an official from the Hawaiian House of Representatives stood and expressed “…thanks to the Lord for sending a Canadian to Hawaii for such a time as this.”

Lees then spoke at three additional meetings, two of which took place in churches where sermons were given on the topic of homosexuality. One of the pastors shared, “we have homosexuals in our congregation, and we love you, and the issue you struggle with is no different than other issues that we all struggle with. The problem is we do not know how to deal with it, and our ignorance will continue unless we learn how to respond.”

The Pastor then read the Beatitudes and summarized, “We are going to be peacemakers and not trouble- makers, we will bless and not blast, and we are going to share on this issue with

100% grace and 100% truth. We are not going to be judgemental. We are all here to help one another along through our faith journey, to become more like Christ.”

At one of the meetings, two legislators showed up, took questions and even joined in prayer over this issue.

For the next two weeks, Lees will be sharing with the people and the legislators of Hawaii about how the acceptance of same sex marriage has led to a more sexualized curriculum and school environment.

Please pray for Phil, the people of Hawaii, and their legislators.
